“Design isn’t just about aesthetics. It is a feeling that should be
soothing and calm. Good design is a refined environment that
simply makes sense.”
“We decided to work with Susan and her team at SWD style on the recommendation of Marlow yachts. Susan’s team worked seamlessly to match the needs and requirements of the Marlow team, the desires of the yacht owners, and my requests as the build captain. Her team is highly organized and was able to handle the hurry up and wait style of yacht building. When the time came for all elements of the interior design to arrive her team delivered all items timely and customized/personalized as promised. Susan worked closely with me to ensure that the few items that were not perfect on arrival were made right by the vendors. My boss and I were very happy overall with SWD style’s performance and would certainly use them again.” Regards, Cody McNeil - Captain M/Y Renee
When we decided to build our Marlow, we looked for an expert, and that’s where Susan came in, who has designed the interior of more than 30 yachts with Marlow. Susan’s deep familiarity with Marlow Yachts was invaluable in realizing our wish for a brighter, more contemporary look. Susan managed to pull off a big reveal at the Miami Boat Show. We knew what we picked over the year working with Susan, but it so exceeded any expectations we had. Walking in and immediately feeling the comfort…It wasn’t like we had to get used to it. We didn’t change a thing.
We have worked with Susan Winchester for a number of years. After our outstanding experience with her while re-modeling our first condo on Longboat Key, we chose to continue working with her for three subsequent homes, on Longboat Key and Easthampton. We find her taste to be exquisite and her sense of space and placement to be extraordinary. Perhaps best of all, she has been a pleasure to work with and has always been keen to recognize our personal taste. We have been so pleased to work with her that when it came to redecorate our home in Easthampton, New York, we asked Susan for help despite the distance. She has been a friend whose professional assistance we can endorse without qualification.
I’ve worked with a number of interior designers in my role of facility development for a rapidly growing company. Susan Winchester tops them all in her combined creativity, technical knowledge, aesthetic sense, project management and interpersonal skills. This is the second boat we’ve done with Susan. The first was so appealing it was featured in various boating magazines for more than three years. This time, we came to Susan with several challenging goals: to make the small port guest stateroom just as comfortable and inviting for guests as the forward stateroom, to create a more appealing view and conversational setting in the aft cockpit, and to find a way to incorporate various art pieces and accessories. Susan aced every goal, including making items work which she might not have chosen, though she is tactful yet candid if she feels you are about to make a mistake -- like choosing a fabric with high silk content. In addition to her significant talent, Susan’s responsiveness, positivity, and personal warmth make her a joy to know both personally and professionally.
I would not build a Marlow Yacht without Susan Winchester. Susan has a beautiful eye as a decorator plus the mind of an architect to provide spatial oversight to the project to make sure that, 3 dimensionally, everything is laid out logically and practically so that everything ‘works’, preventing layout mistakes that could not be corrected after the fact. Susan’s projects are as individual as her clients, reflecting their personal preferences and executing them tastefully and practically, rather than promoting one style as many decorators do. For us, we had certain colors, textures, and art that we loved, and through her knowledge and connections, she was able to execute our vision to perfection. As we move about the different areas on the boat, from the flybridge to the lower staterooms, from the bow seating to the aft deck settee, every place our eye turns is beautiful. All the foregoing would be quite enough, but the bonus of working with Susan made the process itself totally fun and enjoyable. Susan is so full of life and full of adventure, and just plain fun and a pleasure to hang out with. Thank you, Susan, you made our boat a real home that we will enjoy for decades.
I would encourage anyone to work with Susan on your project, as I know I will again in the future.
Susan uses only the most talented subcontractors, who are exemplary in their field.
Our model opening was a huge success and created a great buzz among the real estate community, thanks to SWD STYLE.
With only two initial design meetings where I conveyed the theme of our design, Susan brought my vision to life, by creating the simple elegance of the island lifestyle to reality.
As a developer of luxury homes, we select only elite professionals as our consultants. Susan overcame any time constraints with her attention to detail and professional demeanor. Her design abilities and expertise were unaffected by the fact that the building was under construction, making accessibility difficult.
I was most fortunate to work with Susan Winchester whose sensitivity of what I wanted to achieve, made the task a dream. Our home won outstanding décor and innovative architectural features for the Parade of Homes.
Our personal relationship with Susan Winchester started when we purchased our first condominium at the Ritz Carlton. The outcome of the project was outstanding, earning a featured article.
Having interviewed several designers, we once again selected the services of Susan Winchester to help translate our vision for the space into reality. The final result is nothing short of spectacular.
Susan is the consummate professional, with a superb sense of style, and impeccable standards for quality, design and service.
